The BlackMagic Design Studio Camera 4K Pro is a lightweight unit made from carbon fiber while still giving the same benefits as a large studio camera. The large 7" touchscreen features menus for camera settings, and knobs for brightness, contrast and focus peaking. As well as a tripod mounts with 15mm LWS rod ports and a mounting plate enabling easy and fast set-up.
An ISO of up to 25.600 makes it possible to film in daytime as well as nighttime. 400 ISO is the primary native for use under studio lighting, while the secondary high0base ISO of 3200 is ideal for shooting in low light conditions.
The same imaging technology as a digital film camera is possible with the 4K sensor combined with the BlackMagic generation 5. Combined with the built-in DaVinci colour corrector it is possible to get much better images than lower grade broadcast cameras. The 13 stops of dynamic range make blacks brighter and whites brighter, good for colour correction. The sensor features a resolution of 4096 x 2160, which is great for both HD and UHD work. Plus, all BlackMagic models support from 23.98 up to 60 fps.
With the MFT lens mount, the BlackMagic cameras are compatible with a wide variety of affordable photographic lenses. It is also possible the adjust focus and zoom demand remotely, this means zoom and focus can be adjusted without camera shake as when done manually.
A high resolution 7" touchscreen makes framing shots much easier transforming the way you work with the camera. Making it possible for onscreen overlays such as record parameters, histogram, focus peaking indicators, frame guides, and more. You can even apply 3D LUT's for monitoring shots with the desired colour and look. The included sunhood can be folded down for the protection of the screen while traveling and when not in use.
Featuring physical buttons and knobs as well as controls on the touch screen.
BlackMagic Studio Cameras all feature a large tally light shining red for on air, green for preview, and orange indicating ISO recording.
The BlackMagic Design Studio Camera 4K Pro features SDI connections unlike consumer cameras, which include talkback. This enables the director to speak to the camera operators to guide them to shot selections. A talkback connector is built into the side of the camera and supports standard 5-pin XLR headsets.
All BlackMagic Studio Cameras have lots of connections for connecting to both consumer and broadcast equipment. All models feature HDMI with tally, camera control, and record trigger, so are perfect for ATEM Mini switchers. You also get headphones and mic connections and two USB Type-C expansion ports. Designed for pro broadcast workflows, as it has 12G-SDI, 10G-Base-T Ethernet, talkback, and balanced XLR audio inputs.
BlackMagic cameras feature different ways to be connected. HDMI connections are perfect for HDMI switchers such as the ATEM Mini. The HDMI supports video, tally, control, and record triggers for a broadcast-style workflow using a single HDMI cable. SDI-based switchers can be connected to the Pro with it's 12G-SDI, such as the ATEM Constellation. You can use 10G Ethernet to get camera video, program return, tally, talkback, camera control, and even power using a regular Cat 6a Ethernet cable.
The BlackMagic Studio Camera 4K Pro model enables multiple cameras to be connected via a single Ethernet Cable, working as simple as just plug it in and you're ready. Traditional broadcast cameras use SMPTE fiber to communicate and power, the BlackMagic 4K Studio Camera Pro uses 10G Ethernet as an alternative at a much lower cost. The Ethernet includes all camera video, program return feeds, tally, talkback, camera control, and power.
The BlackMagic Design Studio Camera 4K Pro also enables the user to add external disks to the unit through the high-speed USB-C port, this enables you to record high quality 12-bit BlackMagic RAW files to a USB flash disk. That means you can simply plug the flash disk into a computer and start editing with no waste of time copying.
Some file formats like H.264 that are highly compressed and add noise and artifacts may cause senor detail to be lost forever. Therefore the BlackMagic RAW format is designed to capture and preserve the quality of the sensor data from the camera.
Included in the BlackMagic Design Studio Camera 4K Pro you will find built-in microphones which are shock and wind resistant so you will still get good quality sound. Mics placed on either side of the screen give a better stereo sound than regular video cameras. You will also find a 3.5mm audio output which enables you to connect video camera microphones, as well as a 3.5mm headphone jack.
The BlackMagic Design Studio Camera 4K Pro uses the BlackMagic operating system which is easy to use and the same as all other BlackMagic Design Cameras, this makes it easy for the user to change between BlackMagic cameras. The OP enables the user to adjust focus/exposure tools, 3D LUT's, HDR, metadata entry, timecode BlackMagic RAW settings, and more onscreen easily.
3D LUTs may be used to convert images on the viewfinder display from looking flat and washed out, as the BlackMagic RAW files use logarithmic film gamma in preserving dynamic range. This feature allows the gamma images looking nicer on the LCD as the 3D LUT converts the image just before it is displayed on the LCD. The 3D LUT is transported in the RAW file, so you can always disable the feature when not needed. Enables the feature to be applied, or not in post production editing.
With the BlackMagic ATEM Studio Converter used with the BlackMagic Design Studio Camera 4K Plus, one can remotely adjust the Focus Demand and Zoom Demand for a single Ethernet Connection.
