Blackmagic Micro Cinema Camera
The Blackmagic Micro Cinema Camera is a highly compact, Super 16mm high quality digital video camera that’s designed for use on quadcopters; moving vehicles, helmets and other places where large video cameras would not fit. The camera features a wide 13 stops of dynamic range, good low light capability, active MFT lens mount, and a global shutter.
Blackmagic Micro Cinema features:
Compact, flexible and remotely controllable
The Blackmagic Micro Cinema Camera is an extremely small, high quality digital video camera that’s designed for use on quadcopters; moving vehicles, helmets and other places where large video cameras would not fit. The camera body size is equal to most Micro Four Thirds lenses and the chassis is made out of a lightweight and strong magnesium alloy, to make it durable enough to shoot anywhere.
When mounted on quadcopters or in dangerous locations, you can operate the camera remotely, with a live view and monitor status. The expansion port can be connected to radio control airplane receivers and various camera functions can be mapped to radio channels to remotely record and adjust settings. The expansion port also has a composite video output that can be connected to video transmitters for remote monitoring of the camera’s status, lens settings, battery life and audio levels. For higher quality monitoring, the Micro Cinema Camera also has an HDMI output for wireless HD video transmitters.
Super 16 sensor and global shutter
The Super 16 sensor features an Full HD 1080p resolution, has an incredible 13 stops of dynamic range, ISO 1600 for low light and global shutter with a frame rate of up to 30 frames per second. The sensor can capture true 12-bit quality images without the artifacts you get on heavily compressed 8-bit H.264 files.
Most DSLR and action cameras use a rolling shutter that exposes different parts of the image in fractions of a second, causing video to appear skewed or wobbly. The Blackmagic Micro Cinema Camera’s global shutter acts more like a still camera, exposing the entire image at the same time so you get distortion and ripple free video.
Active Micro Four Thirds lens mount
The Blackmagic Design Micro Cinema Camera features an active Micro Four Thirds lens mount so you can use high optical quality photographic lenses. MFT lenses includes wide angle, primes, standard zooms and telephotos to enable the camera to shoot a wide variety of subjects. The focus and aperture on active MFT lenses can be controlled remotely from the camera’s expansion port. Many MFT lenses features built in optical image stabilization to visually reduce shocks or vibration.
