We’ve got some fantastic news for local photographers – Nikon South Africa is bringing Joe McNally to South Africa in June!

McNally is considered one of the worlds top photojournalists and commercial photographers, and has authored a variety of books on the subjects of digital photography and off-camera lighting. Along with David Hobby, aka Strobist, and Scott Kelby, McNally has been educating contemporary photographers for the last few years through blog posts, videos and lighting workshops, and now us South Africans have the chance to learn from the master in person.

The workshops will be taking place in Cape Town and Johannesburg.

Hi, does it matter if we usually shoot with a Canon?

    • Francois

Hi Janice, nope, all camera systems are welcome!

  • Caminey

Hi – can I just check that the gear on sale during the event won’t be restricted to Nikon products? And that the demo’s won’t just be Nikon specific? Many thanks. I’m really keen to attend.

    • Francois

Hi, users of all camera systems are welcome to attend, and I’m sure Joe will help with non-Nikon gear and settings if you ask him! We’ll be selling Nikon, Lowepro, Manfrotto, Elinchrom, Gitzo and PocketWizard gear, and more. With the event being organised by Nikon, we won’t be selling Canon or Sony gear.

Thanks so much for the feedback Francois. Will any third party lenses be for sale, do you know? Also software or anything like that? Thanks.

        • Francois

Hi, I’m not entirely sure – there might be Tamron lenses available, but I have not heard anything about it. If you’d like, I can try to confirm?

          • Caminey

Thanks Francois – no worries, I will wait and see when I get there. I am sure there will be something there on the wish list!

  • Ciska

Hi. What do we have to bring with us? Camera bag and something to take notes with? Anything else? Thanks

    • Francois

Hi, yup, your camera and a notebook should be fine. For more information, please contact Nikon SA as they will be hosting the event:
