Photography is art, and therefore it is subjective – there are no legitimate rules to choosing when an image will look “better” in black and white vs. color.

It goes without saying, photography is art and therefore it is entirely subjective, there are no set rules to choosing when an image will look “better” in Black and White. That said, there are certain elements that might be present that could lend itself to being particularly striking as a Black and White image. So Pye looks at a few options here and discusses some of the things you might want to keep in mind while editing.
