The Canon EOS C100 Mark II, is Canon's latest Cinema EOS Digital Cinema Camera. Featuring Dual Pixel CMOS Autofocus and Face Detection AF as standard, as well as a new video processing system and a variety of operational advancements, the C100 Mark II has been designed to give independent operators and filmmakers even greater creative flexibility when shooting on the move...
Features:
SUPERIOR PERFORMANCE IN DUAL FORMATS: AVCHD AND MP4
Within its small, lightweight body, the EOS C100 Mark II is packed with new features including an extended ISO range of 320 – 102,400, Dual Pixel CMOS Autofocus plus a new video processing system. Benefitting from technology developed for the flagship EOS C500 digital cinema camera, it provides Full HD footage (1920x1080) with reduced moiré and aliasing, resulting in cleaner, sharper images.
The EOS C100 Mark II offers more recording options than ever before so that you can get the look you need. The widely used AVCHD codec allows recording to SD card at up to 28Mbps, whilst a new MP4 mode offers data rates of up to 35Mbps for outstanding quality. Both codecs can be used at up to 1080/60p and the MP4 mode offers extended slow and fast motion options. It’s even possible to record the two formats simultaneously to separate SD cards, creating either two HD copies or separate HD and SD copies – ideal for quick sharing or turnaround. These upgraded functions are thanks chiefly to the inclusion of Canon’s latest DIGIC DV4 image processor, which allows faster processing and more detailed output.
The EOS C100 Mark II continues to set new standards in ease-of-use for the lone operator, thanks to the inclusion of Dual Pixel CMOS AF and Face Detection AF alongside a variety of other automatic functions. The pioneering Dual Pixel CMOS AF function utilises Canon sensor technology to enable users to find focus easily with a huge range of EF lenses, even when shooting with shallow depth-of-field. Face Detection AF – compatible with Canon EF-S STM lenses - is ideal for ensuring that the subject stays in focus during interview situations and pieces to camera.
With even more customisable options – including 17 assignable function buttons and extensive Custom Picture options – the C100 Mark II allows the user to fully optimise the camera to their own personal preferences while enjoying compatibility with over 100 EF lenses.
NEW OPERATIONAL DESIGN
In addition to the range of new internal features offered by the EOS C100 Mark II, it also features an upgraded physical design that takes feedback from end users into account. A new OLED display is provided for monitoring, delivering higher contrast, more vivid colours and faster response times, even in bright conditions. The OLED screen flips out to the side of the camera and can rotate to face forwards, allowing self-operators to frame their shot when in front of the lens, whilst an improved tiltable Electronic Viewfinder (EVF) with large eyecup is also included to provide greater flexibility and accuracy during shooting. An additional built-in microphone allows audio recording for continuity use even when shooting with the smallest possible camera configuration.
CONNECT AND CONTROL
The EOS C100 Mark II offers a remarkable range of remote control options that further expand shooting possibilities, enabling the C100 Mark II to be placed in locations that previously could not have been considered. Built-in WiFi provides wireless remote control via a web browser interface (from a smartphone or tablet, for example) and compatibility with the Canon RC-V100 Remote Control provides complete camera control through a wired connection. The built-in WiFi capability also offers the means to share files quickly and easily when a quick turn-around is required (in news or documentary shooting, for example) thanks to FTP file transfer capability. SD resolution files with small file sizes are particularly compatible with this function.
CANON LOG SHOOTING AND WIDE DYNAMIC RANGE
The C100 Mark II is ready to offer the widest possible dynamic range thanks to the Canon Log gamma curve, which offers up to 12 stops of latitude. For those that don’t have the time or budget to colour grade their content, a Wide DR setting maximises dynamic range in footage suitable for immediate use. Canon Log and Wide DR are available in other Cinema EOS cameras so the C100 Mark II will integrate seamlessly into multi-camera shoots using existing models.
Commenting on the launch of the EOS C100 Mark II, Kieran Magee, Director of Professional Imaging, Canon Europe, said: “The original C100 has been very successful in an already competitive marketplace and now, thanks to Canon’s innovative technology, its world-renowned range of EF lenses and a continued commitment to the needs of the independent filmmaker, we are able to offer a more advanced camera that provides a feature-rich entry-point into professional filmmaking.”
