The EOS Ra is Canon's first full frame mirrorless camera and sports an 30.3MP CMOS Sensor. The large megapixel count of the sensor will provide ample resolution for large prints, even when cropping or recomposing; while the large physical size of the senor will provide exceptional low light performance, dynamic range, and overall image quality. With the mighty sensor that it incorporates, it will also help you capture the night sky with breath-taking clarity at all times.
With the IR-Cut Filter Array that features right in front of the sensor of the Canon EOS Ra, allows 4x the amount if Hydrogen Alpha light to be transmitted, compared to its predecessor. Meaning that when capturing Astro images, it will distinct the reddish colour of nebula that usually occurs when capturing on any other camera.
Each of the Canon EOS Ra's 30 million pixels is made up of two photodiodes which can be used together or individually. This technology enables the creation of Dual Pixel RAW files which contain a pair of images shot from two very slightly different points of view. When processed using Digital Photo Professional software, Dual Pixel RAW files allow photographers to perform one of three types of unique adjustments. Image Micro-adjustment allows the position of maximum sharpness to be adjusted which is great for fine-tuning portrait images. Bokeh Shift allows out-of-focus highlights to be shifted horizontally so they coincide better with in-focus elements, and ghosting reduction can be used to reduce the appearance of artefacts like flare.
The Canon EOS Ra features a cameras anti-flicker function that detects the frequency and phase of a light sources flicker and captures images near the point of peak brightness when the subject is most likely to be properly illuminated.
With an advanced phase detection system and the powerful full-frame 30.3 Megapixel Dual Pixel CMOS AF sensor thats been incorporated into the Canon EOS Ra Mirrorless Camera, youll be able to select between 5655 Autofocus positions. With this system, it uses majority of the sensors pixels (88% from the horizontal pixels and 100% of the vertical), which leads to an impressive super-fast autofocus system which performs exceptionally well when capturing stills as well as smooth focus tracking when recording video.
The Canon EOS Ra Mirrorless Camera features an 0.5-inch Organic EL electronic viewfinder. With the dedicated lens elements, it helps achieve clear, high resolution image showing 100% of the image area that can be viewed in lighting conditions, an even in bright conditions. The viewfinder also allows you to take photos knowing exactly how the image will turn out when changing the settings accordingly.
The Canon EOS Ra mirrorless system features a newly design RF mount, which was the best choice to incorporate the large diameter 54mm RF mount to achieve faster autofocus and high-speed communication between the camera and the lens.
The perfect compact and ergonomic design, being the Canon EOS Ra Mirrorless Camera, which youll find comfortability from the time you place them into your hands. It features the very same style hand grip that all DSLR models have. Controls are very easy to access, as well as the LCD menu system which will be similar and familiar to most EOS users.
Enjoy a bright and clear LCD 3.15-inch Vari-angle touch screen on the Canon EOS Ra camera, as it features an impressive 2.1 million dots to render high resolution image quality and when recording movies youll achieve sharpness and clarity; and with a 30x Magnification Review Function for examining images on the LCD screen, with the ability to zoom in at 180% and inspect every detail of the image. The LCDs colour tone can also be changed accordingly to help you match your shots just the way you want it to a specific scene.
The Canon EOS Ra Full Frame Mirrorless Camera is Canons most weather resistant mirrorless camera available to date, as features a durable magnesium alloy body, that offers an impressive high standard of protection. The body structure makes it advanced dust and moisture resistant allowing you to shoot in most weather conditions.
You can now record in Canon Log with the EOS Ra camera from Canon. A setting that helps you achieve 800 percent increase in dynamic range, effectively reducing the loss of detail in the darkest and brightest parts of the image. When making use of the Canon Log on the Canon EOS Ra, youll achieve a super wide dynamic range of 12 stops with neutral contrast with an ISO setting of 400, making it perfect for shooting in difficult lighting conditions. The perfect setting to choose when you know your footage will be graded in post-production to produce those rich colours and superb detail.
You can record clean and uncompressed 4K digital video on the Canon EOS Ra camera with embedded timecode over HDMI output in 10-bit 4:2:2, being superlative for supplementary filming on large-scale production sets where the cameras size and flexibility makes it a quick-moving device, which videographers will appreciate.
Advanced 4K features has improved in the Canon EOS Ra camera such as noise reduction to improve high ISO performance, still offering the same level of advanced 4K video features found in the EOS 5D Mark IV. Featuring a powerful 30.3 megapixel full-frame CMOS sensor paired with the DIGIC 8 processor means that you can shoot highly-detailed 4K video with 10-bit 4:2:2 output via HDMI with true vivid colours and pin sharp video footage. With the IR-Filter incorporated, you can also record beautiful nightscape videos in 4K format as well as 4K timelapse videos.
With Silent Shutter, its Ideal for wildlife, journalism and quiet situations, the Canon EOS Ra camera has a silent shutter feature that uses an inaudible electronic shutter.
Canon has packed the brand-new Canon EOS Ra camera with a new customisable multi-function bar, featuring a touch-operated control interface. This function allows you to customise it accordingly to your preference, with a range of functions, from controlling autofocus to setting your ISO speed, shutter speed or even your white balance. With the same similarities as the as the familiar EOS control wheel, however with a better improvement that offers silent operation and enhanced waterproofing.
A brand-new feature that Canon has incorporated into the Canon EOS Ra camera is the Flexible-priority AE mode (Fv), that easily allows you to set features such shutter speed, aperture and ISO to respond automatically or manually for greater convenience and flexibility.
