FlightAutonomy in the Mavic 2 Pro has been greatly improved and now features 6 directions of obstacle avoidance to cover all side of the drone. This obstacle avoidance system is made up from a complex network of dual vision sensors (front/bottom/rear), an infrared sensing system (bottom/top), bottom auxiliary light assists (for low light), single vision systems (left/right), group of powerful, specialized computing cores.
The DJI Mavic 2 Pro's ActiveTrack successfully makes autonomous/automatic follow recording a reality. Whether you or your subject are running, cycling, skating, skiing, driving, the drone uses an advanced combination of computer vision, object recognition, gesture support and machine learning to track as your subject moves. Circling a moving object and keeping it in frame used to only be achievable by the most confident of pilots, now thanks to completely autonomous following and flight speeds of up to 72kmh everyone can do it. A new algorithm also recognizes more subjects, from people to vehicles to animals, and will adjust its flight dynamics to match, ensuring smoother shots.
ActiveTrack flight modes opens new creative tracking including Trace, a follow mode behind or in front of a subject; Profile, for tracking alongside a subject at a variety of angles to get profile shots of the subject; and Spotlight, a mode that keeps the camera trained on a subject while the aircraft flies almost anywhere. The entire time ActiveTrack is running obstacle avoidance is too, so it will decide whether it should continue following, avoid an obstacle or simply stop.
You dont have to manually fly the DJI Mavic 2 Pro with the control sticks, TapFly takes over all of these controls for you leaving you to focus on your shot. Using TapFly mode, all you have to do to is tap on the screen of your smartphone or tablet and the drone will fly there. To change the direction of flight, you can simply tap the screen to fly anywhere. Using its Flight Autonomy Obstacle Sensing System, the Drone can fly places you might not have gone before, to create dynamic and inspiring footage.
The DJI Mavic 2 Pro features a failsafe auto-return home feature and will automatically return to the exact spot it took-of if it detects that the battery is running low, connection to the controller is lost or if the return home button is pressed. The drone will follow the exact flown path back with the FlightAutonomy obstacle sensing system to safely guide the drone past moving/moved obstacles.
No longer do you have to lug around a large backpack or heavy hardcase. The DJI Mavic 2 Pro can be taken everywhere. It features a compact folded size of 214mm x 91mm x 84mm and weighs only 907g enabling you carry it unobtrusively.
Thanks to the new OcuSync 2.0, the DJI Mavic 2 Professional can be controlled (with the included controller) up to a whopping 8km range. This will enable users to explore a little bit further and give you greater confidence and security when flying.
A new powerful 3850 mAh intelligent flight battery gives the DJI Mavic 2 Pro a long flight time of up to 31 minutes, providing ample time for users to enjoy all the features that the drone has to offer.
Sport mode speeds up the Mavic 2 Pro for swift, responsive control, and enables the quadcopter drone to reach speeds up to 72kmph enabling you to keep up with fast moving subjects.
The Mavic 2 Pro features a variety of new shooting modes including: POI 2.0, Waypoint 2.0, Asteroid, and Boomerang
The DJI Mavic 2 Pro features a 20MP 1-inch CMOS sensor. The sensor itself is about 4 times larger than the 1st generation Mavic, and each individual pixel on the sensor is physically larger than those of the Mavic Pro, this gives a wider surface area for each pixel to capture light and provides much greater image and video quality across the board.
The DJI Mavic 2 Pro drone can record 4K UHD (38402160) video internally at up to 30 frames per second at a high bitrate of up to 100Mbps in H.265, at up to 30fps. 4K is the latest standard in high definition video and features 4 times more pixels than HD. The videos are stored internally on a microsd card. The camera can also record at a fast frame rate of 120fps in Full HD.
The DJI Mavic 2 Pro can record 4K videos in the latest H.265 HEVC/MPEG-H video format. HEVC (short for High Efficiency Video Coding) delivers video quality identical to H.264 AVC (used in previous drones) at almost half the bit rate; and the Mavic 2 records at a higher bitrate in of 100Mbps in H.265.
The DJI Mavic 2 Pro also brings aperture control to the DJI app with a variable aperture range of f/2.8 to f/11; this is a first for a Mavic series drone. The aperture control will enable you to control your shutterspeed better in bright conditions. Previously other Mavic drones needed neutral density (ND) filters to achieve slower shutterspeeds in bright light, now the aperture can be controlled remotely straight from the DJI Go App, without having to land your drone.
Thanks to the large 1-inch sensor the Mavic 2 Professional features a whopping maximum ISO of 12800, up from ISO 3200 on the 1st generation model. This extreme light sensitivity combined with the fast F2.8 lens will enable users to record in much less light, while also improving image quality.
A three-axis stabilising gimbal holds the camera and automatically corrects unwanted high frequency flight movement for smooth and professional looking video.
The electronic shutter has also been improved an now features a max shutter speed of 1/8000 seconds.
The DJI Mavic 2 Pro features a 10-bit Dlog-M colour profile for better colour grading to achieve a higher dynamic range in post-processing. The log system records over 1 billion colours, while traditional 8-bit only records 16 million colours, and retains more in-depth details in both highlights and shadows. Now users can capture even the finest of gradations, providing greater flexibility in post-production.
Video from the Mavic 2 Pro can played on a 4K TV with HLG and will display footage with HDR colour tones for improved highlights and increased contrast.
The DJI Mavic 2 Pro's camera features a 20MP sensor, and can capture images in either DNG raw or JPEG. DNG Raw stores all the image data from the sensor and enables better image control during post-processing. Burst Mode shoots 20MP images at a rate of up to 5fps so you to catch the perfect moment, or create awesome action sequences.
Want to take a selfie, just make a frame with your fingers. Want the Mavic 2 Pro to follow you, just raise your arms or wave and the drone will follow you. In Gesture mode the DJI vision system can recognize gestures so you can operate the drone remote free.
All the camera settings, including ISO, shutter speed and exposure compensation, can be set on the DJI Go app.
Thanks to OcuSync 2.0 Live View is now in 1080p Full HD and can be streamed from the DJI Mavic 2 Pro camera in either 2.4GHz or 5.8GHz frequencies to a compatible smartphone or tablet, and from the device it can even be streamed directly to YouTube using the Go app.
The Mavic 2 Pro camera features a brand new 35mm equivalent 28mm f/2.8 Hasselblad lens. The lens has been optimised for capturing aerial footage and possesses Hasselblads unique Hasselblad Natural Colour Solution (HNCS) technology, helping the drone to capture aerial shots in stunning color detail. Its images are consistently detailed with low distortion and low dispersion, ensuring that photos and videos are sharp and vivid.
With DJI's built-in Hyperlapse function, the aircraft shoots stable aerial shots and processes them automatically, effortlessly creating professional-looking timelapses. Timelapses can be shared directly to social media from the DJI App.
The DJI Go app also features a flight simulator to practice your flying skills.
The ‘Director’ feature automatically edits shots into short videos that can be shared immediately after landing.
All the camera settings, including ISO, shutter speed, focus and exposure compensation, can be set using the DJI Go app.
