The Olympus OM-D E-M1 Mark III features a new 20.4M PLive MOS sensor that improves pixel characteristics for enhanced gradations and optimises pixel optics for better image quality at high sensitivities. By applying anti-reflective coating on the surface of the sensor, flaring and ghosts are reduced. Moving object distortion that tends to occur when recording movies is also reduced due to the high-speed reading performance of the new sensor.
The TruePic IX image processor in the Olympus OM-D E-M1 Mark III packs advanced algorithms onto the chip, for image processing, and the other for camera control and computation processes. A state-of-the-art process, which carries out parallel processing of sensor reading, AF processing, and image processing speeds up the camera and reduces power consumption.
The Olympus OM-D E-M1 Mark III features a new type of in-body 5-axis image stabilisation that compensates for all types of camera shake, even when recording videos. Designed to offer the world's best in-body 5-axis image stabilisation on its own, to boasts outstanding stabilisation performance equivalent to 7.5 shutter speed stops.
The Olympus E-M1 Mark III can record 4K (4096 x 2160) videos at a smooth 24P frame rate internally at a 237 Mbps bit rate. Additionally, the 5-axis mechanical sensor-shift image stabilisation is fully operational during video recording, enabling you to capture smooth video in 4K detail handheld.
The E-M1 Mark III's sensor features a large light sensitivity range of ISO 64 - 25,600. The high light sensitivity enables the camera to capture imagery in extreme low light conditions, while the low ISO 64 enables shooting at larger apertures or slower shutter speeds without using neutral density filters.
The Olympus OM-D E-M1 III features a 50 Megapixel High Res Shot function that is perfect for scenes where you need a higher resolution in photos, such as shooting artwork and landscapes. The camera moves the sensor in half-pixel increments while capturing eight shots, which are then used to generate a single high-resolution shot equal to that captured with a 50M sensor. The new TruePic IX image processor effectively suppresses blur caused by moving subjects. It is also possible to capture 25M-equivalent images if you want to keep the file size smaller.
A completely new AF system makes it possible to capture fast-moving subjects. With a Dual FAST AF system that uses the 121-point AF area for both On-chip Phase Detection AF and Contrast AF, the E-M1 Mark III delivers dramatic advancements in AF precision, tracking performance, and operability.
Development of the new 20.4M Live MOS sensor together with the TruePic IX image processor made maximum 60-fps AF/AE lock high-speed sequential shooting possible at a 20.4MP pixel count. Amazing sequential shooting speed beyond that of DSLR cameras lets you capture split-second moments that cannot be seen with the naked eye, in incredible detail.
The Olympus OM-D E-M1 Mark III is equipped with a high-speed viewfinder with a maximum frame rate of 120 fps, and a minimum display time lag of 0.005 sec. for optimal image display. With this display you won't miss capturing the precise moment when shooting fast-moving subjects.
