The two things I am passionate about are social impact and photography – and here they come together.
I’ve worked in the social entrepreneurship and NGO field for the last 20 years, running two social enterprises – one providing consultancy, research and training services to NGOs looking to develop social enterprises, and the other a software development company which developed software for social entrepreneurs.
I have an MA in Social Enterprise: Development & Management and have lectured in social entrepreneurship in two universities in the UK. Since arriving in South Africa in 2010 I have worked as a consultant in a number of local social enterprises and in 2011 I joined the African Social Entrepreneurs Network team and then subsequently the team at the Social Enterprise Academy Africa. I have since turned my attention to photographing social entrepreneurs and innovators, telling the stories of the social impact they are having in the communities they work in.
As well as photographing social impact I also spend my spare time photographing landscapes, sunsets, sunrises, plants, animals and anything else that does and doesn’t move … and sometimes some of that work ends up on here too.
