Garry Winogrand: All Things are Photographable

Acclaimed American street photographer, Garry Winogrand was best known for his innate ability to capture the true essence of American life.

Watch the first two-minute trailer of the incredible documentary film set to be released later this month, based on Garry Winogrand's life and legacy.

Garry Winogrand's fresh new approach to street photography in America during the 1960's ensured his status as one of the most influential photographers of the 20th century. Winogrand truly separated himself from the traditional street photography style made popular by his predecessors and introduced his own haphazard style which would later become instantly recognisable. While his photographs often appeared tilted and poorly constructed, the introduction to his unique 'snapshot aesthetic' only helped to emphasise his chosen subject matter and show a darker side of postwar American culture.

What made Garry Winogrand's photography stand out from his predecessors was his approach to his subjects. Instead of maintaining a passive stance as traditional street photographers were doing, Winogrand intruded into his subjects physical space allowing him to capture their expressions and interaction with his intrusion.

The first two-minute trailer for this incredible documentary focusing on Garry Winogrand's life and legacy as a street photographer has been released and we couldn't be more excited. With the full documentary being released 19 September 2018, we're sure we'll be watching it more than a few times before this date.
