NiSi is a leading Chinese developer and manufacturer of optical filter systems for the photo and film industries. Their Swift variable ND system is widely regarded as the market leader thanks to it's excellent optical performance and ease of use. NiSi has one of the largest ranges of circular, square and 4x5.65 cinema filters as well as other specialist products like macro diopters. They recently branched out into the world of cinema lenses with the widely acclaimed Athena range, which has disrupted the price-point of premium cine primes.

NiSi manufacture lens filters with the highest grade optical glass. Our glass is manufactured and produced directly within our own factories – meaning we can control the quality from start to finish. This standard of glass is typically only found on the highest quality precision optical lenses such as high-end medical imaging equipment, telescopes, and in high-end lenses by manufacturers like Canon, Sony & Zeiss.
Meet the Athena Range
NiSi Athena is a range of 8x full frame ultra-fast cine primes from 14mm to 135mm. These lenses have disrupted the price point of premium cine primes, outperforming a lot of competitors that cost 3-4x times as much.
Near-perfect sharpness across the frame when shooting wide open, beautiful bokeh, exceptional low light performance at T1.9, clean flare, natural blooming, no visible focus breathing and no chromatic aberration. When it comes to optical performance, these lenses punch far above their weight.
The Athenas are not only perfectly physically uniform, but are also virtually identical in weight, and most importantly, balance. The result of this is that you can swop lenses on a stabilised rig without having to rebalance your gimbal or make any adjustments to positioning or settings of a focus-control system.
NiSi Optical Filters
NiSi Filters employ a proprietary Nano Pro multi-coating which reduces reflections and glare, and adds a waterproof layer on both sides of the filter for easy cleaning and removal of fingerprints, smudges, and dust.
The optical glass used in NiSi filters allows for higher overall light transmittance and better colour reproduction compared to the industry standard. Aberrations and other optical defects are minimized by ensuring maximum and even light transmission.
Released in late 2022, NiSi's friction based fast-swop variable ND system is now widely regarded as the market leader for mirrorless filmmakers. It offers everything from 1-9 stops of ND to black mist and polarizer, which can be combined instantly and easily in any order, all with class-leading optical performance.
While all other manufacturers were going with heavier magnetic options, the Swift system has propelled NiSi to the front of their field and left the competition playing catch-up.
