The Nikon Z 9 Mirrorless Digital Camera Body features a newly developed FX-format 45.7MP BSI stacked CMOS sensor. Reduced rolling shutter and fast readout speeds are achieved due to the stacked design of the sensor. Impressive clarity and low noise levels are achieved by the BSI design of the CMOS sensor.
At 45.7MP, it is a high-resolution chip making the Z-9 perfect for detail-orientated genres. The 25.7MP sensor also enables the recording of video at up to 8K.
The EXPEED 7 processor works along with the stacked sensor to enable exceptionally fast AF speeds, burst shooting rates, a high buffer capacity, fluid video performance, and quick all-around handling.
The Nikon Z9 Mirrorless Digital Camera Body achieves continuous shooting speeds of 20fps in raw, 30fps when shooting in JPEG, and an impressive 120fps recording 11MP still. All the above rates support AF/AE performance.
You are also able to buffer 1000 raw images in burst, which enables you to record for approximately 50 seconds continuously, as well as shutter speeds of up to 1/32,000 seconds.
The Nikon Z-9 only employs an electronic shutter for all capture modes (no mechanical shutter is to be found in the Nikon Z 9 Camera). Also, despite the absence of a mechanical shutter, flash sync up to 1/200 sec. is still supported as well as high-speed sync functions.
Another benefit of no mechanical shutter is the ability to operate in complete silence, and there is no worry over a mechanical shutter wearing out or breakdown.
The 493-point phase-detection system realized fast and accurate focusing performance. This system is benefitted from the high-speed communication of the Z interface along with the speed of the sensor that enables AF readings to occur at up to 120 fps. The AF system also supports working in low-light conditions with a Starlight mode enabling focusing down to -8.5 EV to benefit astrophotography, concert as well as other nighttime shooting scenarios.
The new algorithm and deep learning technology, enables the Nikon Z 9 to automatically detects subjects in up to 9 distinct types from humans, animals, and even aeroplanes among others. Eye-detection AF has been tuned to detect eyes in the frame and focus automatically in the scene, regardless of the size within the frame.
Using full pixel readout, UHD 8K 30p video can be recorded with continuous shooting possible for approximately 2 hours 5 minutes. Full-frame 4K recording is available, too, up to 120p for slow-motion playback. Using an 8K area, oversampled UHD 4K recording is possible at up to 30p for increased sharpness and detail. Also, high-resolution frame grabs can be recorded in-camera from 8K and 4K videos, for producing 33MP or 11MP stills, respectively.
Internal recording with 10-bit colour and 4:2:2 sampling is achievable in the ProRes 422 HQ and H.265 codecs, and H.264 and 4:2:0 colour can be used depending on shooting needs. For more latitude when colour grading in post, there is also a 10-bit N-Log setting as well as a Flat colour profile. Additionally, HLG (Hybrid Log-Gamma) can be used for creating HDR-ready content straight from the camera.
The Nikon Z 9 Mirrorless Digital Camera Body uses an advanced EVF, utilizing a 3.69m-dot OLED panel. The OLED panel additionally features luminance of up to 3000 cd.m2, providing clear visibility in bright conditions.
As a first for Nikon the Z-9 employs a 3.2" 2.1m-dot four-axis LCD tilting touchscreen, enabling the use of the mirrorless camera in a variety of positions.
With dual CFexpress Type-B memory card slots, flexible file saving, promoting high-speed reading and writing to keep up with fast continuous shooting and 8K video recording.
Easy switching between horizontal and vertical shooting is possible the vertical grip on the Nikon Z 9.
The Nikon Z9 is compatible with the Nikon EN-EL18d Battery, producing up to 700farmes per charge. Other EN-EL 18 series batteries can also be used.
In-body Vibration Reduction now supports Synchro VR to achieve up to 6 stops of camera shake compensation when used with select Z lenses.
Along with the professional build quality and pro DSLR form factor, the Nikon Z9 Mirrorless Camera Body employs the connectivity options needed for a wide variety of workflow needs, such as:
