The EOS R6 V is equipped with a new 32.5MP full-frame CMOS sensor that is powered by Canon’s DIGIC X processor, producing exceptional quality images with incredible speed and detail.

The EOS R6 V feels like Canon has blended elements of the EOS R6 Mark III and Cinema EOS C50 into one hybrid-focused body, it carries the same 32MP full-frame sensor and advanced and advances video capabilities, while introducing a more creator-focused design which sits between a traditional hybrid mirrorless camera and dedicated cinema tool.

Canon’s renowned Dual Pixel CMOS AF II system returns with enhanced subject tracking for animals, humans and vehicles; including racing cars, airplanes and trains. The system covers the entire frame and offers highly responsive autofocus performance for both stills and video.

Cinematic features in a compact body

The R6 V stands out in its video capabilities. Canon has placed this camera into hybrid camera territory. Creators can shoot 7K Open Gate RAW video, oversampled 4K footage, 4K DCI and UHD up to 120fps, full HD up to 180fps for slow motion and10-bit 4:2:2 internal recording.

Canon have also incorporated professional creativity features such as HDMI RAW output, CF express support, proxy recording, advanced audio options, and UVC/UAC streaming functionality for live production and online content workflows.

Canon has also introduced active cooling into the EOS R6 V Body, with a built-in fan system designed to support longer recording sessions. While not quite as aggressive as the cooling system found in Canon’s dedicated cinema lineup, it allows the EOS R6 V to comfortably handle demanding long-form content creation workflows like podcasts, interviews and livestreams.

One of the standout takeaways from using the EOS R6 V is how naturally it handles for hybrid creators. Unlike larger cinema-focused bodies, the camera still feels comfortable and intuitive for still photography, while offering many of the advanced video tools creators are looking for.

The RF 20-50mm F4L IS USM PZ Lens

This lens features a compact ultra-wide to standard zoom which is specifically designed for video creators. One of the main features of the lens can be interchanged between zoom and the built-in Power Zoom system, which allows creators to achieve a smooth and cinematic zoom movement while being allowed to adjust the zoom speed.

During our first hands-on experience with the lens, one of the biggest stand outs is its compact and lightweight design. The lens is clearly built with video creators and gimbal users in mind, with an internal zoom design that keeps the lens balanced while shooting.

The F4 aperture allows consistent exposure throughout the zoom range while Canon’s optical stabilisation system delivers up to 6 stops of stabilisation, increasing to 8 stops when paired with compatible IBIS- bodies such as the R6 V.

Canon has also included premium L-series construction with dust and moisture resistance, fluorine coatings, ASC and Super Spectra coatings, and a lightweight design weighing only 420g.
