Daleen Nel Hall
I am a Cape Town based Artist and Photographer who specializes in Fine Art as well as Lifestyle & Portrait Photography. After completing my BA degree in Visual Art and Education at the University of Pretoria, I started my career as a lecturer and teacher of Photography and Art and have over 16 years’ experience in the teaching thereof. My creative background and keen interest in advertising and marketing later led to an opportunity to work in a PR agency for several years where I worked with a team strategizing, designing and implementing creative campaigns across South Africa for our clients until I relocated from Johannesburg to Cape Town in 2014.
I have been a lecturer at the Cape Town School of Photography since 2017 and currently lecture the Intro to Photography short course as well as Business Development for Photographers for the 1-year Full time, and 6 months Part-time programmes. I am passionate about empowering my students with a knowledge and appreciation for photography and the business thereof. As a practising artist and photographer, I often explore topics of duality, juxtaposition, and the subconscious in my work. I am a firm believer of the ‘power of the process of the photographic experience’ – for both subject (model) and photographer, regardless of whether it is for commercial or artistic purposes.
Recent exhibitions where my work has been on show include the Investec Cape Town Art Fair (2020), The AVA Gallery and Daddy Long Legs Boutique Art Hotel.
