Large-Format Digital Film Sensor

The Blackmagic Design PYXIS 12K Cinema Camera (ARRI PL) features a large 24x36mm full-frame sensor with a native 12,288x8040 resolution, providing a true cinematic look by allowing you to create a shallow depth-of-field or to use anamorphic lenses without cropping. Dual native ISO of up to 25,600 and a 16-stop dynamic range ensure low-noise imagery in any lighting condition.

Flexible Film Formats

Thanks to the large sensor, you are able to work in a variety of film formats and aspect ratios without sacrificing image quality. For a close-up version of your open-gate shot, you can use a Super 35-sized window. You can also work in true 6:5 anamorphic without needing to crop for widescreen cinematics.

Multiple Resolutions and Frame Rates

Standard video resolutions and frame rates can be shot from HD to 12K, with the further ability to capture in 12K, 8K, or 4K at the full sensor size.
Available resolutions include up to 40 fps at 12,288x8040 3:2 open gate, 60 fps at 12,288x5112 2.4:1, and 112 fps at 8192x3408 8K.
On the body of the camera, you will find a dedicated HFR (high framerate) button that allows you to quickly switch to your rate without using the menu.

HDR Imagery and Dual-Native ISO

Detail is preserved in both he lightest and darkest areas of the image with a wide 16-stop dynamic range.
The PYXIS 12K Cine Camera is optimised to 800 ISO, offering an ISO of 200 to 3200 with a maximum ISO of 25,600 that minimises grain and noise in your images.

Customizable Rigging

The camera body is crafted from lightweight yet robust aerospace-grade aluminium, and it is easy to rig with multiple 1/4"-20 and 3/8"-16 threads for mounting to a gimbal, crane, or drone.
You will also find multiple side plates designed for attaching handgrips, SSD recorders, microphones, and more. It includes a side plate with one 3/8"-16 and two 1/4"-20 threads, and an SSD plate with an optional rosette plate with additional threads available separately.

LCD Monitor and Onboard Controls

On the side, the Blackmagic Design PYXIS 12K Cinema Camera, you will find a built-in 4" LCD touchscreen to monitor and review your shots on set. There is no need to add an additional monitor as the built-in screen is HDR-compatible. On-screen overlays show status and recording parameters, histograms, levels, frame guides, and 3D LUTS, among other tools.

Post-Production-Friendly Formats

Blackmagic RAW recording preserves detail, exposure, and colour control in post-production. Blackmagic RAW works with Apple Metal, CUDA, and OpenCL, the media files are also compatible with all operating systems.
Recording is also possible in H.264 proxy files in real time for easy sharing.

Multiple Recording Options

For expanding your recording options, the Blackmagic Design PYXIS 12K Cinema Camera offers two CFexpress Type-B card slots along with a USB-C expansion port that allows you to record directly to an external SSD or external flash media. Due to the high speeds of a CFexpress card, you are able to record an hour plus in 6K on a single 256GB card.

Live Syncing to Blackmagic Cloud

You are able to shoot and edit in near real-time news and live events using Blackmagic Cloud and proxy files.
Users anywhere in the world can upload proxy footage and have their editors start working on scenes almost instantly.

Expansive Connectivity

The Blackmagic Design PYXIS 12K Cinema Camera features a USB-C port for the Blackmagic URSA Cine EVF and a mini 3-pin XLR analogue audio with +48V Phantom power for microphone integration. You will find a headphone jack for monitoring, as well as a 3.5mm microphone input. The USB-C port at the back of the camera is used for recording devices or mobile data.
A Reference/Timecode input port syncs your sources.
