Meet the second generation in the EOS R8 line, the Canon EOS R8 Mark II Mirrorless Camera is a lightweight and portable full-frame powerhouse, bringing improved stability, speed and control.
The Canon EOS R8 II Mirrorless Camera features a 24.2MP sensor paired with Dual Pixel CMOS AF II and deep-learning subject detection, providing fast, intelligent recognition. This is all backed by 40fps continuous shooting, pre-continuous capture, and 1/16,000 secong maximum shutter speed for when shooting fast-moving subjects in bright light.
Video capabilities of the Canon EOS R8 Mark II Mirrorless Camera feature 4K/60p oversampled from 6K for detailed footage with smoother rendering, and Full HD extends to 180p for slow motion. Canon Log 3 adds grading flexibility, with up to 10-bit 4:2:2 recording and XF-HEVC S and XF-AVC S formats for hybrid workflows.
The R 8 2 includes a newly developed 5-axis sensor-shift stabilisation system that works on the body itself rather than lenses with IS. Correction can reach up to 7.5 stops at the centre of the frame, and 7.0 at the edges.
Physical handling of the camera body has also been improved with a larger grip, making it easier to hold, even with a smaller body. For convenient tripod use, you will now find dedicated side access to the card slot as opposed to next to the battery.
Full-Frame Image Quality
The Canon EOS R8 Mark II Mirrorless Camera features a 24.2MP full-frame CMOS sensor and DIGIC X processing, paired with Dual Pixel CMOS AF II, which allows for shallower depth of field, while the wide ISO range of 100 to 102,400 offers flexibility in lower lighting conditions. Sensitivity can be expanded to ISO 50 to ISO 204,800.
Advanced In-Body Stabilisation
The R8 Two includes a newly developed 5-axis sensor-shift stabilisation system that works on the body itself rather than lenses with IS. IBIS is especially useful when slower shutter speeds are used, and it enables steadier handheld shooting, especially in low light conditions.
Correction can reach up to 7.5 stops at the centre of the frame, and 7.0 at the edges. Further, compatible lenses coordinate optical IS with IBIS for an enhanced effect.
Ultra-Fast Shooting
40fps continuous shooting, pre-continuous capture, and 1/16,000 second maximum shutter speed for when shooting fast-moving subjects in bright light.
Intelligent Autofocus
Intelligent autofocus includes Dual Pixel CMOS AF II and deep-learning subject detection that automatically tracks people, trains, dogs, cats, aircraft, birds, horses, cars and motorbikes.
Autofocus coverage covers virtually 100% of the frame in both vertical and horizontal orientations. In low-light conditions, focusing sensitivity goes as low as -7.5 EV.
Advanced Video Features
Video capabilities of the Canon EOS R 8 Mark II Mirrorless Camera feature 4K/60p oversampled from 6K for detailed footage with smoother rendering, and Full HD extends to 180p for slow motion. Canon Log 3 adds grading flexibility, with up to 10-bit 4:2:2 recording and XF-HEVC S and XF-AVC S formats for hybrid workflows.
When combined with compatible lenses, focus-breathing correction is available to assist in maintaining consistent framing during focus transitions.
Further control when people are in the frame is provided with Register People Priority along with dedicated movie functions.
Creative Colour
The Canon EOS R8 MII features in-camera creative controls to adjust the look of stills and video, even before it is needed to open an editor. This consists of 16 colour filters and adjustable intensity from 0% to 100% in 10% increments.
NegativeFilmtone and PositiveFilmtone are used to expand the range, from softer, lower-contrast looks to stronger saturation and contrast. This enables the ability to create your distinctive style, straight from the camera.?
Intuitive Handling
The Physical handling of the camera body has also been improved with a larger grip, making it easier to hold, even with a smaller body. For convenient tripod use, you will now find dedicated side access to the card slot as opposed to next to the battery.
On the rear for live monitoring and framing, you will find a 3" 1.62-million-dot vari-angle touchscreen to enable easy composing from different angles, high, low and front-facing. For eye-level composition, a 2.36-million-dot OLED viewfinder offers refresh rates up to 120fps.
Sharing and Connectivity
The Canon EOS R8 Mark II Mirrorless Camera features built-in 2.4GHz and 5GHz Wi-Fi and Bluetooth 5.3 that can connect easily to a smartphone via Camera Connect for downloading content or accessing Canon's image.canon cloud service.
You will also find a USB-C port that can be used for direct computer connection, or it can be used for charging. There is also UVC/UAC support for video calls and livestreaming at up to 4K60p.
