60MP BSI CMOS Sensor

The Leica Q3 Monochrom Digital Camera features the same 60MP full-frame CMOS sensor as the Q3, but just modified to solely record in black and white.
Black and White, removing the Colour Filter Array (CFA), the sensor only records monochromatic imagery using luminance values for enhanced clarity, depth, and resolution. By removing CFA, the Q3 Monochrom is able to achieve a higher sensitivity of ISO 100-200000.
This high-resolution sensor features a back-illuminated (BSI) design with improved noise performance and faster readout speeds that benefit both photo and video applications. This higher resolution benefits detail-oriented scenarios such as landscape and architectural subjects.

Triple Resolution Technology

Another feature brought over from the Leica M11 is the ability to use Triple Resolution Technology, allowing for the ability to choose from 60MP, 36MP, or 18MP output. Each of these presets makes use of the full sensor area and provides a rich 14-bit colour and a 14-stop dynamic range.

Maestro IV

The Leica Q3 Monochrom Digital Camera introduces the new generation processing with the Maestro IV. This processor, along with 8GB of buffer memory, suits the more multimedia-intended use of the Q3 and enables speedy performance when shooting stills or recording video. With a wide sensitivity, an ISO of 100-200000 makes it possible to work in difficult lighting conditions.

Leica Content Credentials + Content Authenticity Initiative

The Leica Q3 Monochrom Digital Camera comes with the Content Authenticity Initiative (CAI), which is a global collaborative initiative initiated by Adobe along with various other organisations, including Leica and the New York Times. This is a primary goal to develop a set a standards for digital content attribution.
In this camera, it shows up as Leica Content Credentials, by using a secure processing chip. Where metadata is encrypted at the point of capture.
The aim is to give viewers more confidence in the images they are looking at and provide creators with another way to maintain credits.

Hybrid Autofocus and Subject Tracking

An hybrid AF system utilises phase detection along with contrast detection and depth from defocus AF for faster performance.
Along with phase detection, the Leica Q3 Digital Camera also features intelligent subject tracking to detect and track eyes, bodies, faces, and animals in the frame.

8K Monochromatic Video and ProRes Recording

Rivalling the exceptional still capabilities, the Q3 Monochrom is a well-rounded multimedia camera with equally notable video capabilities. These include:

• DCI 8K recording is supported at up to 30p with 4:2:0 10-bit sampling when recording internally or at 8-bit when recording externally via the micro-HDMI port.
• 4K recording is also possible, with 4:2:2 10-bit sampling, at up to 60p with support for recording internally or externally. When shooting Full HD, the frame rate can be pushed to 120p for slow motion playback, and all resolutions also support a true 24p frame rate for cinematic rendering.
• ProRes 422 HQ recording can be done internally with a Full HD resolution at frame rates up to 60p.
• Micro-HDMI and USB-C ports provide greater access to accessories like external recorders, gimbals, power banks, and more to benefit from using the Q3 Monochrom as a tool for video creators.
• The Q3 Monochrom also supports using RODE external microphones via USB-C connection for improved audio quality while recording video.

Camera Design

Updated EVF and New Tilting LCD

The updated 5.76m-dot OLED EVF offers eye-level composing and features a 120fps refresh rate providing a more realistic rendering.
For the first time in the Leica Q lineup, you will find a tilting LCD screen for a clear view from high as well as low angles. The 3" 1.84m-dot LCD also features touch compatibility for more intuitive control.

Portable, Weather-Sealed Design

Designed for everyday use with a similar design as previous versions, but you will find some notable updates.
With your Leica Q3 Monochrom Digital Camera, you will find a larger capacity battery (Leica BP-SCL6) capable of up to 350 shots per charge, please note that the precious model battery is also compatible, the BP-SCL4.
Also accepting one SD memory card, UHS-II protocol is also now accepted.

The magnesium alloy body is sealed to protect against dust and moisture (IP52-rated) for use in harsh environmental conditions.

Newly Designed User Interface

To improve the general usability and to simplify the usability, the Leica Q3 Monochrom employs a new interface design to the Q series and some redesigned icons borrowed from the SL3.

Expanded Connectivity and Wireless Charging Accessories

The Leica Q3 Monochrom Digital Camera features improved wireless connectivity with Wi-Fi 2.4 and 5 GHz as well as Bluetooth 5.0. You will also find an updated version of the Leica FOTOS App that enables you to 10 x faster than in the past with up to 35MB/s.
Using the FOTOS App new Leica Looks can be transferred to your camera like: Contemporary, Classic, Blue, Selenium, Sepia, and more.
