The Leica SL3-S Mirrorless Full-Frame Camera with Leica Vario-Elmarit-SL 28-70mm f/2.8 ASPH. Lens combines photography and videography in a unique way from the very start with key focus points on speed, flexibility and versatility. By employing state-of-the-art technology built into a unique and timeless design. It also offers numerous new functions that ensure a professional workflow for producing audiovisual content.
The Leica SL 3S Mirrorless Full-Frame Camera features a new BSI CMOS full-frame sensor with 24-megapixel native resolution. You also have 48- and 96-megapixel multi-shot modes along with a newly developed autofocus system. The best of three focus technologies are combined to produce the latest generation in phase-detection AF (PDAF), depth map (object detection AF) and contrast-detection AF. This enables continuous shooting at up to 30 fps with autofocus fully supported. This makes the Leica SL3-S Mirrorless Full-Frame Camera the fastest ever in the Leica lineup.
The Leica SL3S Mirrorless Full-Frame Camera is also the first camera in the SL Lineup with content credentials technology in accordance with the Content Authenticity Initiative (CAI) for photos. With the mode activated, each image is signed with tamper-proof metadata like camera model and author information, as well as creation and editing data.
Video is recorded at resolutions of up to 6K and offers 3:2 open-gate recording. Recording to external display recorders is possible at HDMI-RAW in 5.9K at 30fps. ProRes 4:2:2 HQ in 5.8K at 30 fps or C4K at 60 fps can be recorded without any recording time limits thanks to the CFexpress type B interface.
The Leica SL3-S Mirrorless Full-Frame Camera comes fitted with the Maestro IV processor with L2 technology that handles enormous amounts of data effortlessly. This results in images with superb colour rendering, high dynamic range and excellent noise behaviour in the L-Log colour space.
Connectivity options ensure a seamless professional workflow. You will find slots for CFexpress type B and UHS-II SD memory cards. A USB-C port for fast data transfer, tethering, SSD connection or power supply, and a full-size HDMI 2.1 output for external LCD panels.
The Leica SL3-S Mirrorless Full-Frame Camera also offers image stabilisation of up to 5 stops that further expands the range of applications for M-lenses. For more intuitive handling, the handle button layout and overall camera design have been improved for even more intuitive handling. The menu design also makes navigation easy through the camera menu. You will also find freely assignable FN buttons and optimised touch integration throughout the camera for intuitive and convenient operation.
The EyeRes viewfinder is equipped with a painstakingly produced optical system of glass lenses. A crystal clear image with up to 120 images per second and a resolution of 5.76 million pixels. Another new feature built into the Leica SL3-S Mirrorless Full-Frame Camera is a 3.2" high-resolution touchscreen with a high-quality tilting mechanism, this makes it easy to take photos and video from different angles.

24MP Full-Frame BSI CMOS Sensor and Maestro IV Processor
The Leica SL3-S Mirrorless Full-Frame Camera features a 24MP full-frame BSI CMOS sensor with fast PDAF. Combining the Maestro IV processor and 8GB of buffering for enhanced low-light performance and good quality colour output with a file size that is ideal for sharing, this makes this camera ideal for a wide variety of shooting environments.
This combination further allows for DNG and JPEG formats at 24MP and handheld multishot modes at 48MP and 96MP.
Advanced Autofocus System
For high-quality autofocus performance, the sensor has 779 autofocus points, featuring much more than the predecessor.
Combining Contrast Detection AF and the 779-point phase-detection system offers quicker and more intelligent object detection and tracking for moving subjects. This is best when shooting continuously up to 30 fps.
Unlimited 6K Open Gate Internal Recording
Unlimited 6K Open Gate internal recording enabling new creative possibilities in terms of post production while using the full size of the sensor in the native 3:2 ratio.
Without losing out on image quality, you can crop and adjust framing using Re-Framing Flexibility. And more image data aids processes like stabilisation, tracking, and applying visual effects.
Unlimited 6K Open Gate Internal Recording makes it possible to use anamorphic lenses on the Leica SL3-S without losing out on image information.
External Recording and Additional Video Features
The Leica SL3-S Mirrorless Full-Frame Camera features 5.9K HDMI-RAW external recording for the best possible post-production flexibility that offers malleable files with incredible dynamic range and colour grading when recording to external display recorders.
On the SL 3S you can now record straight to an external SSD via USB-C. You will also find upgraded Cine Mode options for professional video production.
Image Stabilisation and EyeRes Viewfinder
Complementing the camera's powerfull 24MP Full-Frame BSI CMOS Sensor is a 5-axis sensor-shift stabilisation IBIS system to provide up to 5-stops of shake reduction. This is to enable sharper handheld images. The EyeRes viewfinder is equipped with an optical system of glass lenses that enables clear displays of subjects in up to 120 images per second and a resolution of 5.76m-dot resolution.

The Leica SL3-S Mirrorless Full-Frame Camera is the first in the first camera in the SL range featuring Leica Content Credentials and dedicated CAI-compliant hardware.
Using Leica Content Credentials and the CAI-compliant hardware, you can have each image signed with metadata that is tamperproof, and you can receive access to verification tools providing content, production, and editing process history.

Lens (L-Mount) is the most compact and lightweight standard zoom for the SL system, covering the useful wide-angle to portrait-length while retaining an impressive bright f/2.8 maximum aperture throughout the zoom range. The f/2.8 maximum aperture enables working in challenging low-light conditions from 28mm all the way through to 70mm, which also benefits control over depth of field.
