Short-Wavelength Refractive Lens
SR is a specialised-dispersion and high glass lens that refracts light with wavelengths shorter than of blue. The lens is able to achieve highly precise chromatic aberration compensation so that the colours in your images captured are more accurately reproduced.
ED (Extra-Low Dispersion) Glass
To correct chromatic aberrations, the Nikon Z 400mm f/4.5 VR S Lens includes Extra-Low Dispersion Glass.
Super ED Glass
Nikon has implemented Super ED Glass into the lens with even lower dispersion properties and extremely high performance in reducing the secondary spectrum, to minimise chromatic aberration even further, as well as other lens aberrations.
Vibration Reduction
To ensure image stability, the Nikon Z 400mm lens incorporates Vibration Reduction to ensure that it automatically compensates for camera shake. Any lens that features VR will feature the VR abbreviation on the lens barrel.
Stepping Motor
To achieve fast, accurate, smooth and quiet autofocus, the lens features a stepping motor. This is ideal when photographing wildlife photography as it will not disturb animals.
Fluorine Coating
With Fluorine coating applied to the glass, it will effectively repel dust, water droplets, grease or dirt to ensure easy removal even when they adhere to the lens surface.
