Eight Selectable Pickup Patterns and Recording Modes
With the eight selectable pickup patterns that can be chosen using the selector on the back of the microphone, you can select the area of sound pickup around the unit. Selectable modes include super directional, unidirectional, omnidirectional, super directional (rear), super directional (front and rear), super directional (front and rear separate), stereo, and ultra-directional.
By selecting sound pickup from the front and rear the Sony ECM-M1 Compact Camera-Mount Digital Shotgun Microphone can be used for interview scenarios.
Noise Filters, Onboard Switch Control
On the Sony ECM-M1 Compact Camera-Mount Digital Shotgun Microphone you will find pattern, gain, audio level, and pickup pattern controls on the back and side of the microphone. The Sony ECMM1 noise-cut filter and low-cut filter are very effective at reducing extraneous ambient noises and cutting out low-frequency noise through the use of digital signal processing algorithms, maximizing audio quality at the recording stage and reducing the need for complex post-processing.
Cable-Free Connection, Vibration Suppressing Design
With no wires needed the unit is equipped with a shoe adapter and is compatible with a wide range of Sony cameras equipped with the Sony Multi Interface Shoe. The microphone also features an advanced shock- and vibration-suppressing design that effectively reduces handling noise entering the capsule and thus can reduce the quality of sound recorded.
Supplied Windscreen, Dust and Moisture Resistant
For when recording outdoors, the Sony ECM-M1 Compact Camera-Mount Digital Shotgun Microphone includes a furry windshield that ensures clear and crisp audio recording by reducing wind noise from entering the capsule.
