The FX6 Full-Frame Camera from Sony was developed around a philosophy geared towards offering an exceptionally compact form, but retaining the versatility and cine imaging that Sony has become renowned for. The Sony FX 6 offers more than 15 stops of dynamic range, S-Cinetone gamma for filmlike skin tones and 10-bit 4:2:2 XAVC-I recording. This positions the FX-6 perfectly to function in a secondary capacity to larger Sony Cine Line cameras such as the FX9 or VENICE. This performance coupled with the size of the FX6 makes the camera perfect for documentary filmmaking, or as a camera for use on gimbals or drones. The FX6 camera marries a 4K full-frame Exmor R sensor with a BIONX XR processing engine for a dual native ISO of 800 as well as ISO 12800 detail-rich capture in low-light scenes.
A Versatile Member in the Sony Cine Line Family
Forming part of Sony's Cinema Line of cameras, the FX6 has many core features in common with established cameras such as the FX9 and VENICE. These include a full-frame sensor, industry leading colour science, a compact and lightweight composite body over a magnesium alloy frame, professional connectors and competitive advanced autofocus functionality. The Sony FX6 weighs in at just 890 grams and, while it fits perfectly into an on-set workflow, a couple of key features makes it an excellent choice for single-operator users. Phase detect autofocus with real time eye autofocus and face detect, built-in ND filters and a 3.5" touch screen LCD all serve to make the FX6 suitable for any working environment.
4K Full-Frame CMOS Sensor
The Sony FX6 features a 10.2 megapixel back-side illuminated Exmor R CMOS sensor which delivers phenomenal low-light imaging performance. Couple this with Sony's range of fullframe lenses and the FX6's sensor produces a wonderfully immersive image. A fast scan speed also serves to reduce rolling shutter artefacts, support high frame rates and quick autofocus response.
